Telematics, Trophies,
and Tournaments

In the past few weeks, we’ve travelled to the UK to attend the industry’s prestigious UKMHA Awards (The ‘Archies’), and in the USA, members of our team have been getting competitive… all in the name of golf.

The Archies (UKMHA Awards 2022)

GemOne is a proud sponsor of the UKMHA Awards 2022 — and on 15th October 2022 people from across the industry gathered at the Hilton Metropole in Birmingham, UK to honour the companies, teams, and individuals who have done so much to innovate, raise standards, and help operators to be more productive and to work more safely.

Safety and efficiency are at the core of what GemOne does which is why we were so excited to support this celebration of innovation in our industry.

After a two year hiatus due to the pandemic, the theme of this year’s event was “Hollywood Glamour” and as a proud sponsor of the event, GemOne team members including marketing and customer experience manager Barbara Tombeur, VP Sales EMEA Jacques Valckenaere, and UK Business Development Manager Kevin Ashcroft enjoyed the glitz and glamour, including a three-course dinner, entertainment presented by celebrity host Mark Durden-Smith, and dancing well into the night.

Fun fact: The Archies gets its nickname from Archimedes — the father of engineering. And every year, entrants seek to win the ultimate accolade: a hand-cast Archie statuette. The award has now become a symbol of distinction within the materials handling sector.

This year’s event was the inaugural awards event for UKMHA and was revamped to introduce some brand-new award categories to represent the entire spectrum of materials handling. The ceremony celebrated the ingenious products and invaluable people that make our industry what it is today.

Tim Waples, chief executive of UKMHA, took a moment to pay tribute to the event sponsors, including GemOne.

We’re already looking forward to next year!

On 10th October, GemOne came out swinging as Toyota Material Handing Systems held its Annual Customer Appreciation Golf Tournament at Eagles Landing Country Club in Stockbridge, Georgia (US).

Our US Eastern Regional Sales Manager, Richard Lane, went along to the event, attended by about 140 others.

Toyota Material Handling of Atlanta are one of the largest companies of their kind in the US – with around $150M annual sales. Every year they invite their customers and vendors to take part in the event. GemOne is one of those vendors and we are also a proud sponsor of the tournament.

It turned out to be a great day with perfect weather. When the competition finished, everyone enjoyed a nice buffet dinner and awards presentation.
